Recovery update

Hello All,

Well, I'm almost 2 weeks post op and doing really well. I had a setback last week but I'm over that now. I've done some videos about it but haven't posted them yet, I'll probably do that later today. Basically I didn't take the laxatives and the stool softeners they offered me at the hospital. Due to the meds I had been on I had to manage things and I thought I could manage this. Let me tell you, it's not in the same league. If you're in the hospital and you've had surgery at least take the stool softeners. I was scared of getting the runs so I didn't take them. That was a big mistake. I started taking laxatives and stool softeners once I got home. By then it was too late and I was already blocked. I had to clear the blockage myself or else go to the hospital again. I did it myself at home. Then I had the runs for about 2 days. In all it was about 5 days of feeling very ill, like the worst flu I ever had, but it wasn't the flu. And it was far worse than the actual surgery!

Once it settled down, I started really doing better. I've lost 7" off my waist so far. I don't have the lab report back yet, so I don't know how big the fibroids were they took out of me. I know my uterus was 3 times its normal size. But if I lost 7 inches off my waist, which is 18cm, it gives you an idea how bulky those fibroids were. No wonder I was so sick! My left kidney doesn't hurt anymore. My bladder is doing much better. As of last week, I'm not on any pain medications. I've been able to cut many medications I was taking to manage pain and symptoms while waiting for surgery. I now take pretty much what I take before this became an issue. No more big handfulls of pills several times a day!

I'm still very happy with how everything has turned out, even with the setback. I know I already feel better. Now I just have to recover from surgery and recover from 2 years of being ill.

Tomorrow morning, being Christmas morning, my husband is taking me to Niagara Falls for Christmas. We had talked about going before but weren't sure if we would still make it. I'm well enough to go. It won't be a busy busy trip. We'll basically hang out at the resort. It'll be at my speed right now. I got a good deal on the hotel too!
