Made it through day 2 of my new season still feeling uplifted by a sense of a fresh start. The new moon and optimism perhaps? So waking up at 4am thinking about my ex for the first time in ages wasn't therefore what I'd expected! I'd studiously avoided contact when I could have just because I found the whole subject so painful and have long needed to heal and felt unable to. Well as its the wee small hours of the morning and I'm committed to facing these subconscious obstacles to a better life w… Continue
A few shots of Sabine when she came to stay with me last weekend and explore a few of Devon's sights. It was a 'mini CCOR meeting' of the best kind :) Good company and we had unusually great weather for our hiking too. Sabine has most of the footage so may post more herself later. Let me know if you're heading this way and want to meet! Best wishes, Chris :) Continue
Life can be funny sometimes. I work as an IT consultant, part of the time at least, and can be over-dependent on my laptop. Well as the lease on my current machine was running out this week I was wondering whether I should upgrade or pocket the cash and keep this another year. So I started looking around at the latest gadgets thinking how nice it would be to have, though I'm far from materialistic normally, and just before I post off the last payment my laptop today (of all days!!) decided to go… Continue
Hi folks, I heard some bad news from my brother this morning that has stopped me in my tracks. His girlfriend's youngest son and friend of ours we've known for a few years now was blown up while on patrol with his regiment in Afghanistan yesterday. Lyndon is a handsome lad, 6'4" and only recently turned 18 years old. He had wanted to serve for ages and having reached legal age finally got deployed with his special forces regiment, the Paras, to Afghanistan a few months ago. Apparently his vehicl… Continue
I know this post will, frustratingly, only apply to UK co-creators who have access to the BBC iPlayer but for those of you who haven't seen it, one of my favourite science authors and 'futurists', Michio Kaku, has done a short series called Visions of the Future about how AI, biotech and quantum technology will transform society in the years to come. They are being shown again on the BBC for those who missed them. I always feel there's cause for optimism about scientific and techological advance… Continue
I think it was Ruth who started a lively discussion a few months ago about how long it would take to form new positive habits and whether it could be done in less than 100 days. The concensus was under a month and Sue, if I remember rightly, cited some NASA research with astronauts that it could be done in 21 days. Well I just looked at my calendar this weekend and discovered I have 21 days of my season 2 left to go and wanted to focus on something useful for the time that I've never really got… Continue
Did anyone else here join in with Andie and friends to practice a meditation at the Wesak full moon last night? Well I endeavoured to from my quiet corner of the world, even though it was at 2.49am and I fell into a deep sleep afterwards! I was struggling at first to relax, my mind r… Continue
Well finally started my season 2 - timed to finish on midsummers day which has always been special for me - with every intention of continuing last seasons goals and adding a few new ones. Weightloss and fitness are an increasing priority for me. Have to remind myself I've already lost 17lbs but things stalled in Feb. I've already started a detox for the next week which is teaching me two things I kind of knew - I'm a carb addict with emotional eating habits and my will power needs sharpening! I… Continue
I just watched the third gem of a documentary on the BBC iPlayer website called Extreme Pilgrim which I'd recommend to anyone. It follows the journey of an english protestant priest called Peter Owen-Jones on three extreme pilgramages to discover enlightenment outside his familiar spiritual practice. O… Continue
