Eeking Out My Last Bit of Energy

Boy I am pooped. Sleep deprivation can really make you feel like you're in a slow-motion movie scene. Every time I feel like I'm about to just call it quits and go to sleep even though I still have things to do that are due tomorrow, I somehow find that last bit of energy and just decide to go for it rather than give up. It's a bit painful in the moment, but I'm always glad that I picked myself up from the bootstraps and made it to the finish line. But, I feel like I have 3 new finish lines ever… Continue

100 Writings, 100 Colors, 100 Days

Someone posted this blog post about 100 paint chip colors they looked at for 100 days and wrote about it every day. It reminded me very much of what CCOR is all about and I realized I did not actively have a practice that I've been doing every single day for 100 days. Maybe I can do something like this and be inspired by something so simple yet brilliant.

Take a look. Pretty cool.

I am getting a new pug!!!!

I've been super busy lately, so I haven't been able to post much, but I wanted to at least share this bit of news since I am so excited about it!

I have been wanting this dog for about a decade now and I finally decided that instead of waiting to reward myself after I paid off all of my debts, that I should fill my life with the things that bring me the most joy now.

I recently heard a quote that said that "True wealth is not measured by the amount of money you have in your bank account, but b… Continue

Intentions for Seasons 3 and 4

I find that all of my intentions get erased since I have to update my page every season, so I've decided to put them in my blog so that I can refer to them. Here's my last season's profile and intentions (more for my reference than an actual blog post):

SEASON 3 (5/1/09 - 5/8/09):
I am embarking a new and exciting career change in a new city! I used to work as a consultant and a user experience designer, but now I am pursuing a new career in fashion design. I just moved from Chicago to N… Continue

Day 2, Season 4 - Living from an Open Heart

One idea that I decided to practice during these hundred days is to spend some time each day to open my heart and send my love to at least one person each day. I can do this physically by expressing kindness to those that come across my path, or to say loving words to people who call or email that sound like they need it, or to just pray and meditate, sending beams of love out there to individuals that pop into my mind, my life, or my dreams at night.

Lately I've been having lots of dreams abou… Continue

Cute dog! I'm getting my dog in a couple of weeks. :) It's interesting to hear you say that dogs are here to teach us something. I haven't thought about it that way before, but I can see how that is true. Enjoy your dog!

About Me:
This season I am going back to school to change my career from user experience consulting to fashion design. I've been moving towards this goal since January, with no idea if I'd actually go through with this path, or if this path was the right path for me, but after receiving some positive signs from the universe, I moved forward in faith that this is a good career move for me--one that will bring me happiness and fulfillment, and a career path that I can truly enjoy and be passionate about every day.

What's interesting is that I had never considered this career path until 10 months ago when the idea popped into my head. I had been searching for that "perfect" career path for me for 6 years at that point and was getting a bit frustrated that there was no clear path. While I jumped from being a consultant to an independent contractor to a feng shui consultant to an energy healer to creating a line of bath salt products, then back to independent contracting, at that point I was exhausted and knew I had an interest in all of those previous career paths, but they all felt one-dimensional for me. I had other skills I wanted to utilize, but these careers only tapped into just a few of them.

In December of 2008, I went to the healing center of John of God in Brazil. I went with family, and although many go there for physical healing, my main interest was to sort out my career path. I asked John of God what the best career path for me would be. I was prescribed some herbs and was told I would be helped. Later that day, while eating dinner, a man that my family had met sat with us talking about all of his experiences at the healing center. After a couple of hours of talking to my parents, he turned to me (I was knitting something at the time) and just blurted out, "Why don't you go into fashion design?". I was shocked. I never told anyone that I had that random thought just a month earlier. Then he told me I should go to Parsons. I had never thought of it before. Maybe this was how John of God was helping me? By giving me a specific field and school to attend?

When I went home, I looked up the school and it turns out they had a program just for people like me who were making a career change, and they also had a fast-track program that condensed the program from two years to one year for the "crazies" like myself. Perfect! But, then as I was applying, I realized I wasn't even sure if I could attend since I lived in Chicago and the school was in New York. It would depend on if my husband could find a job in NY, and we had been trying for several years already. He had asked John of God to help him find a job in NY. I told my mom my plan and she wasn't sure if I should do it, so I hesitated and almost didn't apply, but then went ahead with it anyway because I didn't want to regret the decision. I did the assignment and mailed all the papers and transcripts and filled out all the financial aid and everything...I couldn't believe I was doing this AGAIN! I was beginning to think I was just collecting degrees. I already have a B.S., M.Des, and MBA. Seriously... and out of all those degrees, I haven't found the job that I love yet. But, this path was divinely guided, I told myself. I'm finally following my heart instead of my ego.

Then, in the next 8-10 weeks, my husband miraculously found the "perfect" job for him by running into someone he knew at a last-minute conference he was sent to. We were going to be in NY to attend fashion week the following week where we had intended weeks earlier that he would get an interview while we were in NY, with no idea how it would happen, but we intended it anyway. He met with the guy for coffee, and then the following morning (which was the only morning we had available), he was set up with 4 impromptu interviews. Wow. Later that week he has a phone interview, then it was followed up with another flight to NY for 7 more interviews, and voila. He had an offer in record time. It was amazing.
Season:
Season 4
Starting Date:
August 20, 2009
Intentions & Goals:
Once he received the offer, a week later, my acceptance letter came in the mail. Wow, what timing. This had to be divinely orchestrated. All our friends told us that our stars were aligned. I believe it!

So, this fall begins my journey into the world of fashion, and I'm excited for what awaits. A bit nervous because I've been told over and over again by the staff, administration, and students at all the events how rigorous this program even without the condensed timeline, but I know I'll be ok. I've done it before. And I have an entire army of spiritual helpers that are willing to help whenever I need it. How amazing. I feel so truly blessed. I'm off to a new direction and am excited about what I will learn and the journey that will unfold. And all of you can see me as I go through this journey! Thanks for supporting me all the way here, co-creators!

Hi Christine,
Thanks for you comment on my Wall. I'm sorry that I didn't get back to you, sooner.

I've always enjoyed crafting. I tried crocheting, but I couldn't get the rhythm. I like to knit, but it takes too long and I lose interest. I have lots of UOF (unfinished projects, can't remember what the OF stands for) around the house. So I turned to machine knitting which is knitting shaped fabrics and sewing the pieces together. I find sewing to be fast and I can finish projects within a day or so.

A few years ago, I wanted to sell knitting patterns (of my designs) over the internet. I fiddle with knitted pieces and sew them up into garments, accessories, etc. I just had to write down the pattern, get a website going, create a blog and promote myself. I would be the next ‘Debbie Bliss,’ I told my machine knitting teacher about my plans, and the next thing she does is cancels her classes, visits Paris, France & creates her own brand of luxury hand-knitting yarns! I tried to learn machine knitting on my own, but it was too difficult, so my plans never materialized.

I'm so impressed with what you are doing!! Congrats again on completing your 3rd session.
