What did you do this Christmas?

Looking for inspiration...

Co-Creators: 8

Last year I volunteered at the homeless shelter on Christmas Eve.
This year I did nothing, stayed home, which gave a different vibe to Christmas.
What did you do that was uplifting this Christmas?
An inspiration for next year....

I spent a week up north with my parents. It was the best Christmas ever! I was spoiled, well fed and given the chance to reflect.

Best wishes in the new year to everyone!!!!!!

i missed snow & church .So i decided to make up for these things.I Turned on the Air Conditioner (max) & listened to Rooskaya(Russian) radio.
And also to the melodious voice of my mother trying to talk me out of this whim of mine. (i cuddeled in the blanket & listened)

I used to donate some money to poor people but this time has been a little difficult for my family that I couldn't give money instead of that I chose clothes from my husband, my son and I and we give them to poor families. I love to see their happy faces when they received the presents.

This Christmas was a 'once in a lifetime' experience, at least that's what I hope!
I was ill with the flu and spend most of my Christmas in bed.

But I still have a lot to be grateful for;
- my boyfriend and son teamed up and did the Christmas grocery shopping together,
- the fresh juices my daughter brought me every day,
- the shower in the morning after a feverish night,
- all the heartwarming get well wishes my CCOR friends left on my site,
- all the lovely Christmas gifts I received from my boyfriend and my children (especially the book about 'The Life Codes' that is soooooo beautiful),
- clean sheets on my bed
- a special Yoda-moment with Nikola ;-)
- my first day dressed and outdoors again in the crisp winter air

It wasn't my best Christmas ever but I have nothing to complain about.

I stayed very present. I cherished the time with my folks- who are getting older- and I was grateful for every plate I filled with warm comforting food. I took note of every smile from one of my kids when they opened another present. I laughed at the cats when they got caught in the paper and ribbons. I was thankful to have the family that I had, here at my home. My heart soared to see my daughter sing solos with my brother on guitar, and I rolled around in the conversation my kids have with their grandparents about their lives and all the places they have traveled. I was in love with my life!

This Christmas Eve I went to my Father and Mother as Always
Not as always, because this time I was alone, without my 2 children.

My parents are going upstream most of the time, especialy my father,
who's love is very conditional !!
I'm a bit of a relief factor, so just being there helps them 2 go downstream :-)
( as long as we don't talk about my divorce and the children )

anyway, point of my story, they where wondering how I had coped with
the things that happend to me, without getting depressed or becomming an
alcoholist, or drug-user or even killing myself
Instead in the last year I had become happier by the day, and retaind my
perfect physical health.
This was my opertunity to give them some guidence, since at that moment
they 'mayby' could hear it.
So I told them that's its important that you have positive thoughts, and that you make sure you feel good no mather what.
I told them to always reach for a better feeling thought, and gave them the
'wouldn't it be nice if' proces

So that was my 'good deed' for Christmas, I hope for them, and everybody out there that you all find your path and be happy for the rest of your lives.

Since I work in a school, and make home visits, I have first hand experience with the poor kids in our school, so I make connections to get them cute coats, boots, gloves, hats, sometimes food baskets, and presents. It is a really good feeling. The more affluent families in our school are very socially active and very generous. One family bought another a bike, and it is fun to be the intermediary so people can retain anonymity.

We did Midnight Mass Christmas Eve. Dan and I sing in choir together. Dan's family came over Christmas Day , tomorrow we go to my sister's house, and on Tuesday we leave for Kansas City to see my other sister.
