Tip : using Yahoo!Pipes and twitterfeed to cross-promote your Ning activities
If you're on Ning, then you probably have joined many Ning networks. Here's something that might interest you if you'd like to cross-promote your Ning activities across your networks to help increase discovery and visibility :
The "Ning Pipe" uses Yahoo!Pipes to merge all my latest activity feeds from my various Ning networks into one.
The resulting feed is then sent to twitterfeed where it is converted into tweets that are posted to both twitter and identi.ca.
The twitter feed is then fed to the Status application that is available on Ning nets and which I have added to my pages. One warning : be sure to uncheck the "Allow this application to add updates in the Latest Activity module on My Page" option to avoid feedback loops... click "Edit" on the app box to see the options).
And that's it. So now when you post stuff or leave comments, the activity items (or at least some activity items if you do a down-sampling as I do) will appear on all your nets...
