http://cdbaby.com/cd/mollysonnyboy2Day 9: Today I looked at my yucky old wood floors, the first thing that catches your eye when you walk into the living room. I used my noggin and decided to call the local hardware center to find out who might be able to fix my wood floors: strip/stain etc. them.
I got a name and a number. He's said he will come today at 1pm.
Yay!

I haven't managed to get my clutter started yet. Tomorrow I intend on posting on the local freecycle site a few of the items I intend on getting rid of. My junk is another's treasure. Thank you for the motivation to finally get started.

I'm reorganizing the Living Room area...I put my clothes in order last night, and called a pick laudry service that will be here at 5! That still gives me time to run to the craft store, but I'm trying to put that hold...we'll see. I'm just taking a quick break to see how the rest of the de-cluttereers are doing. Have met some kindred spirits, that's for sure!

Aeroney and Tara: what is a skip? Aeorney says "when I get my skip" and Tara says "need to hire a skip",

One sounds like an occasional maid, the other in context sounds like an extra garbage pickup. ?

I dont know what I started. I took the day off today to ensure that my house was tidy for the begining of the week and went from folding loads and loads of clothes to cleaning out the kitchen cupboards. I have found an extra kettle in a cupboard which I can put on free cycle.

I am going to look at getting a skip bin as well to ensure that the stuff that gets thrown out stays thrown out, especialy ther kids stuff.

I have to re-arrange the rest of my kitchen, well, should I say, 'find somewhere to put everything I just pulled out, and I also found some great stuff to put into the exmas baskets I am making up. I should have a couple of baby ones without too muh hassel realy. Plus the jug and a couple of things that were broken. All those plastic containers are in a box now so that when I get my skip they can all get dumped in there as well.

I put on a realy relaxing CD that realy did get me through the first part of my work without even thinking about it, but when the music finished Im hungry and realy feeling a little over it, i cant believe what the time is either. I have to pick up my kids in an hour so i better get back to it or my 2yr old will think its xmas with all the stuff lying around that he can play with.

feeling really satisfied today, I am starting to prepare for christmas and am inviting my mum and dad over for christmas dinner, which means a bit of decluttering and organisation!! I have done a load of cleaning today washing window frames, cuboard doors and all my windows. Started to sort out rooms and tidy up just to make the house warm and welcoming. Theres still a load to do but it has made me feel so much better, I've even found my old sewing machine, maybe I could make use of that!!! The turkey is bought and in the freezer, it has a shelf all of it's own!!! and I have a new xmas tree too, one that actually stands up.!!!! It just feels so satisfying to start and sort everything out and need to hire a skip and just get rid of everything that is broken or does not work and then give away the rest.

Another Saturday, and I got a very good handle on another 6 feet of my room, about 9 feet & nearly halfway through!

Also, this time I will be able to sleep in my own bed tonight! I found old pictuers and did not shove them under more paper and head for the ice cream. I found the starter stuff I obught a couple of years ago for scrapbooking and concentrated them near my table in the plastic storage shelves that line the wall on the short side of the room. I boxed bedding and craft things.

My 6-year old grandson came up and said that it had been too long since he did art in my room, He found a amall occasional table and drew and cut paper while I worked. He kept his area clean and threw away the scraps of paper in the garbage. That served to remind me another reason why I wanted to clear that clutter, so the boys could come up & talk, or read, or do art in my television & computerless sleep area.

I like rubbermaid containers, but a couple of years ago I ran into a sale on them & did not buy enough. THen I asked my daughter ot pick me up another three & she just got one because she thought it was not the same. She was right. THen they disappeared from our stores & I got some sterlite, which is OK except that it doesn't match. Now I am suing cardboard cartons that are fit to ship books to Asia (from work). THey're cheaper!

Thanks, guys, for your encouragement & words of wisdom. It is a process!

Oh wow Ellen, sounds like a big job alright. I wish you all the best of luck with that, lol. Im laughing with you not at you, im also laughing at the fact that its gona be my turn soon.

My partner gets frustrated with me because I seem to start at his end of the room when I do a clean out, and then of course I get frustrated and just leave it all there and he trips over everything.

Yesterday though, i made some progress. I cleaned out 2 boxes of papers, sat and looked through them all, found some old photos, some inspirational material, even a journal. So two boxes are now one, and that one box will soon be put into plastic containers. Old bills, photos, journal notes etc. Im gona have go out and grab a few plastic containers today. Gona make sure they have wheels on em though so they can easily be coaxed out from under the bed.

I hear that Robin. This past weekend I went into my storage and with my mother and sister's help, I managed to get rid of several boxes of "stuff", gave away some things to them, and actually sorted out the Christmas box and threw out/gave away whatever I don't want or have no use for. Whew! It's an ongoing endeavor but I am half way done ... onwards and upwards!
