http://cdbaby.com/cd/mollysonnyboy2Day 9: Today I looked at my yucky old wood floors, the first thing that catches your eye when you walk into the living room. I used my noggin and decided to call the local hardware center to find out who might be able to fix my wood floors: strip/stain etc. them.
I got a name and a number. He's said he will come today at 1pm.
Yay!

I am "so" learning the power of gratitude. I not to long ago wrote about clutter in my life, and the pure misery it was causing me. Until finally I realize that what you focus on increases, therefore…

I released some clutter (I wrote in my Blog about it) and I feel great. It seems like emotional clutter is going away with it too and I feel so much better already. I do think however that all of us…

Clutter isn't just "stuff"

I realized that I'll never have the time to do what I REALLY want to do as long as I read everything in my Inbox. So, NO MORE JOKES for me. I'm getting off the newsletters lists. etc., etc. Then, I'…

I'm back and wow that feels so much better!! cleared out bedroom cuboards bagged up 4 bags of clothes I don't wear. as I was sorting through I kept asking myself, do i need this?? do I wear it / use it etc. I did not realise how much I did not need which was just sitting gathering dust. I have thrown away box after empty box, sorted through magazines, cleaned under the bed, sorted through toiletries/makeup,cleaned out the airing cuboard, bagging up 5 bags of linen. also found lock keys for my UPVC windows ( been searching for ages!!) 2 broken freeview recievers, a trolley with only 2 wheeels ( totally useless) and various other bits. Shoes!! bags!! books! I could go on. You must do this it is sooo satisfying. Dying to get my skip now!!

Ok today I have woke up and the sun is shining and I feel ready to sort out my bedroom and start shifting some stuff out. I was feeling really demotivated as I am struggling with work at the moment but since I feel in a positive frame of mind today I'm going to get on and DO IT!! I want to get ahead for when the skip comes since I have other stuff to be doing. My Lit course starts in Feb and I need to get organised with reading etc so I need to use the time in my holiday wisely.

Tomorrow I plan to make the trip to the storage unit. THat other 3% of the unit that I do move things around in has largely got my Christmas decorations in it, and I am ready to take them back. I will leave this house at 1:00 whether I am ready or not. I want to take another box or two of kitchen things from my bedroom, but I am taking the Christmas boxes no matter what.

Really efficient use of a challenge would be to get me out of the storage unit, or at least into a smaller one. , .

ellen you are so right I would have done the same if I had a storage unit, It is a week to my holiday and I can't wait for my skip to arrive just to get rid of all the junk and stuff from my past which reminds me of stuff I'd rather forget !! i will try and take some stuff for recycling and to work ( books and mags for the patients etc) so throwing away doesn't feel so bad

Ok, thank you Ellen for your advice... I wasn't planning on getting one, but my ex is getting one, so I'll try to resist the temptation of using JUST a little corner for this and that... Which would be an unnecessary remaining link between the two of, also! I'm yearning to throw things out, space, room, air! But it feels so wasteful to just throw away... But since I'll be in a hurry when I have to do it, I guess what I need to do is find that woman's brother and his dumpster! ;)

I now set the intention to be honest with myself, and really get rid, in one way or another, of all that crap that I'll never use again! Thanks to all for supporting me in this!

Maria;
This is my advice. DO NOT GET A STORAGE UNIT!!! I wish I had heeded my friend's advice when she told me that five years ago, now I have a 5 foot by 15 foot space entirely full of things. 97% of these things I have not looked at once in five years. With the thousands I have spent on that unit I could have replaced that stuff with newer used furniture & clothes that do not fit probably many times over!

A while ago, a wise woman in this space said that she was moving into a smaller space and at the last minute, her brother came over with a dumpster & said "OK, now we have to do it. What do you want this for?" and picking up things. If she could not come up with a good excuse very quickly he just pitched it in the trash!

Help me! I need to move from 300 square-meters to a mere 100! And I've collected some pretty impressive clutter over the six years I've been living here, piling stuff up, thinking I'll sort it through some day soon... I hate to throw away something that could still be used, second hand stores, here I come!

My vision about my new home is clean, clear and light, on the brim of scarce... Release, leave the suitcases behind, travel light, nothing but matching glasses and plates in the kitchen... Combine that with two small children... Hm. But there must be a way. I'm making one right now!

Thank you for holding this vision with me, and I look forward to your advice and success stories!

Love & Light (er) from France,

: ) Maria

I bit the bullet so to speak...Yellowstone Laundry is picking up My cat-haired towels, sheets, etc...at 6pm. And, I just went through my armoire (I have 4 mirrored monstrosities in my room filled with clothes). "The Black and Purple" Clothes..Yeah every closet is supposed to be color coded. Progress if not purrfection!

I have tons of clutter! I am a pack rat by nature- or something. I thrift shop and I take free stuff whether I need it or not. I love paper! And I have way too much. I married a man who is much the same. My goal is to release, RELEASE, RELEASE! And those things that are left will have a space of their own. And sentimental items can be made into art or something worth sharing and showing. Great to have support and see that many others have these issues as well. Peace and Light.
