The 100 Day Reality Challenge

It has been a while since I was here and tackled the clutter. Most of the stuff, stuff is now gone. However, it seems I did a something awful wild and crazy, maybe even stupid by selling my Mary Kay on Ebay for less than wholesale. How crazy. but anyway it is gone and I hope it has blessed the hands of the buyer.

Realistically speaking, I am feeling better just writing about it.

In my discovery of removing clutter, it is a real mental deal. How powerful are the inanimate objects to take control over your life and your mental state of mind. This is the weird part of it all. I was saving stuff, like past due bills, etc. because I did not have the money to pay it yet. Now, I cannot figure why I am holding on to them. There are computers out there in the universe that will quickly remind me that I am past due. The time it takes to shuffle the paper around and around, I could have made the money to pay it off.

This reminds me of the time, when my lights were turned off. And the light bill was an amount I could not afford. I spent more money buying replacement alternatives, like a flash light, batteries and little lamp stands until I had the money to pay it. My lights were off for about 2 weeks. The miracle of it all is the light company took my deposit to clear it up and the balance dropped down to an amount I could afford.

I THINK CLUTTERED ROOMS IS SYMBOLIC OF A CLUTTERED MIND.
I could go on and on about the cluttered life I have lived. Today is another day to tackle more clutter so I can see more clearly.

Have a great day everyone.

Yes, clutter is symbolic of what is going on in your mind. I've always told my husband that what's going on out there (in our environment) is a clear indication of what's going on in here (in my head).

There are many things I've sold at much cheaper than I could have gotten it for, but it's better to have sold it than to have just donated it. In the past, I didn't really take the time to sell anything other than big pieces of furniture, so I would donate everything to Salvation Army and my friend's church's rummage sale, or just give them away. I know that giving things away is good karma, but it's nice to get some money back for things that you don't need but are still very useful for someone else! I am going to be living on Amazon, eBay and etsy the next few weeks selling EVERYTHING that I no longer use or don't see myself using within the next year.

I've decided that I am no longer buying books unless I'll use it over and over again. I love books, so I've managed to stock up over 400-500 books in my home. And that's not including my husband's books. There are so many of them that I have not read yet, but I realize now that I only bought them because of a professor's recommendation. I never really wanted to read it, but I didn't want to forget the titles either, so I ended up buying them! So, my home was a library and we were always trying to figure out a way to store the books. We had turned an entire closet into a shelving system for books, had 3 huge bookcases, and 3 smaller bookcases and 2 cabinets, all for books. When we moved, we only had the 3 huge bookcases and 2 smaller bookcases for books due to space constraints, so everything started looking very cluttered. I am now going to release myself from the books I will never read and will start borrowing books from the library! What a concept.

I'm also considering selling an expensive vanity that I own. As much as I love it and think it's unique, it was damaged during the move and it's not something I actually use (other than the drawers). I'm considering getting a dresser instead so that I don't have piles and piles of clothes everywhere with no place to store them.

I'm just happy that I'm finally focusing on removing the clutter from my life. It feels good to do that while making money. Yey!

Hope you are all living a cleaner, more organized, and spacious life!
