Mixed Media Monday!

Hi Everyone!

I thought I would start a seperate thread for the Monday Creations. Hopefully it will catch on! My confession is that I might not have time to always do this with my mom here but I'm going to try!

The idea is to try to make something, even something very small, once a week and we'll post it on Mondays. This way maybe it will usher in a creative urge during the week and keep us from getting stagnant. If you don't have anything new then just dig out something old and share that!

I hope to see all of your amazing LOVELY creations!

I can't wait! This weekend it just so happens that my mother will be at my sisters house so I am going to carve out time to go knee deep in messy sloppy ART PROJECTS!!!

Thanks Carrie! The baby is a picture of my daughter Anais and the picture of the woman is my friend who was visiting us from Los Angeles.

Kaybee these are beautiful!!! OMGOSH what a fantastic idea for gifts.

I tried to upload what I was learning to draw over the weekend but I had trouble with the scanner and the size of the image. I really DO hope that mixed media monday continues even if its just me and you LOL...Perhaps I can just take a photo of what I am learning to draw and shade (really rough though) and get it posted that way instead of trying to scan it.
Also I created my art room last night and have a space now so I'm excited about that and will have room for actually working on things! YAYy!
I'm so glad you didn't forget. I promise I"ll somehow get something up by tonight!!

Kaybee, These are beautiful! What wonderful creations you have made, they are a brilliant way to honor your parents during the holidays and anytime. They really inspire me to do more creating, right now my creating has just been photography.

Hey Simone imagine what you could do with all of yoru photographs...the possibilities are endless!! Have you seen distress ink? I'm going to play with that today to try shading some faces that I'm drawing but I think it can be used on photo paper. FUN!!

Can you tell me what is on the back side of these? Do you sandwich it between two pieces of beveled glass and then tape and solder? After being at the glass studio all day today I"m interested in how to do this. I can pick up the extra glass while I'm there...

Ok soooooooooo!!! I had no idea when I signed up for this class that I would learn so much about myself. The above pic is of the first begining outline face that I've done. And even on this I had to throw out the rules for making the eyes and sketch it by eyeing it. I started out with guide lines and wound up erasing them and free handing it. Maybe I'm just a rule breaker by nature but OMG were those guide lines making me nuts! So now I'll be onto shading which I'm having a horrible time with. I'm also having alot of difficulty with the pencil smudging into the face and then I can't get it off when the colored pencil is added. Its one of those projects that I want to throw across the room but DAMN IT I WILL finish this!! LOL...Either me or the doll faces are going down! haha...
I'm going to dig out the distress inks that I have and try a different method for making these faces today. HOPEFULLY....
if I do I'll get a pic of them tonight.
