Dream - Write - Succeed!

Greetings everyone - I'm Linda Houle.
Lisa Rene’ Smith and I co-own L&L Dreamspell - a micro-publishing company based near Houston, Texas, USA.
We’re two gutsy gals who love a challenge – and starting a publishing company from scratch was quite a feat!
We read everything we could get our hands on, studied the competition, and then we laughed in the face of adversity. Laughter helps when you’re trying to compete with those huge New York Presses.
Our great team of authors is growing every day – Lisa and I are proud to have helped them get their work into print. So far we’ve published fiction in many genres including mystery, suspense, romance, historical, young adult, and sci-fi.
Now we’re expanding into the non-fiction field with our new imprint, Wisdom Trends. Those books will feature popular metaphysical, spiritual, and philosophical topics. We’ll also add some self-help guidebooks, and anything else that strikes our fancy!
So why the Dream and Write Challenge?
We know how it is – you’ve always dreamed of becoming a writer, or you’ve written something that’s been hiding in a shoebox under your bed…
Maybe you don’t know how to get started, or maybe you are afraid of being turned down. And maybe you’ve already been turned down, and decided to give up.
Never give up! If your dream is to write and be published then let’s get started.
If you are already working on co-creating your reality, you can incorporate writing into your plan.
Several years ago I participated in a national write a novel in a month challenge. If I wrote more than 50,000 words in that single month I’d receive a certificate – so not only did I write more than was required – I completed my novel! I’m proud to have met my personal challenge.
The Dream and Write Challenge group is brand new here – I’ll be adding in links and resources every week. But don’t wait for me – get started today…

The NaNoWritMo competition is starting Nov 1. If you haven't heard of it, its a global competition to write a novel in one month. All kinds of support available.NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month, is a competition to write a 50,000 word novel entirely in the month of November. It is a fun way to write in a community atmosphere. Although there are no prizes for winning (save the bragging rights), the accomplishment of having finished a 50,000 word novel in a month is a prize in itself. If interested: Visit Nanowrimo.org and sign up for an account. The competition begins on November 1st, but you can sign up any time during October or November, before the end of the contest.2.Join the forums for support in your novel and help. They help get you excited to write and are full of information to make your novel more realistic, ideas to pad your word count, links to online thesauri and dictionaries, and even a forum for other writers in your region. Lurking and posting at the forum will give you more determination to keep going, because you'll be surrounded by people doing the same thing.
3.Pick up some NaNoWriMo dares from the forum. Dares are silly (or not-so-silly) plot twists, characters, or objects that you try to work into your novel. NaNoWriMo is all about quantity, not quality, so many writers work in as many dares as possible. One of the most popular dares is the Traveling Shovel of Death™, a shovel that is used to kill or bludgeon characters. Another popular amusement is to incorporate characters whose names are anagrams of "NaNoWriMo": Mr. Ian Woon, Norman Iwo, and so on. [2]
4.Read "No Plot? No Problem" by Chris Baty. This is the guy who started it all. The book is, of course, optional. But it's great preparation for November and keeps some brain cells occupied in October while waiting for November. There are some great tips and you'll get a preview of what to expect during those four glorious, fantabulous, and grueling weeks. And help you customize the supplies you should lay in before November 1st hits.

Hi Everyone,

I live in the U.K and I’ve had a natural ability to write since childhood, although the physical aspect is not easy, as I struggle with dyslexia even though I am blessed with an automatic flow of creative writing. That should override my problems you may well think. I get put off because I’d like to be a perfectionist! I’ve been on a spiritual journey since my teenage years, singing and writing should have been my combined career path but having tuned my back on singing due to extreme stage fright and writing because of dyslexia, I evolved as a healer as I loved helping others to heal their own lives. I’ve reached the stage in my life I feel unfulfilled even though I have been very successful working as a healer and qualified therapist.
I love inspirational writing that includes natural healing and spirituality, writing from the heart and soul. I have six books in mind and many of them started, that is the easy part. I now have a plan; I’m going to do a refresher course in typing, English language and grammar which should boost my confidence. I’m looking forward to connecting with you all and hopefully one day soon, inspired by successes of this group, I will reach the finally pages of my first completed manuscript. Blessing to you all! Xxx Marie

I needed to hear about writing today.... I have been procrastinating myself with a piece that needs to be submitted by tomorrow.
My advice to you is to just get started. If you have an idea- write it down and you will find that the ideas just keep coming and when they do jot them down no matter where you are. (I have written down thoughts on cocktail napkins before.) Action, action, action….. rewrites and edits come later. Good luck… and have fun with it!

Hi Everyone,

I live in the U.K and have had a passion for writing for as long as I can remember. Have been on a spiritual path for about 15 years now and my main interest of writing lies in spirituality and writing from the soul. I would love to manifest a book for publication and am creating this at the moment. Look forward to connecting with you all.

I have question and I know there are alot of published authors here that might be able to help. My daughter's school has a new federal grant for a writing program. They have 3 published authors to speak but they have been trying to contact Stephine Meyers publisher. Any ideas on who to contact so they can ask if she would participate. How would they get ahold of them? Anything that could help. Once again this is for her public school not me. Thanks for reading and any help you can give.
