Yes Valerie, in Arts I could talk about music, Thanks God I can live off of music! A lot of people don't believe it! And it depends of what people call "live" because you can live being a doctor, engineer, business person - as you said "legit" work- but if you don't really like it and don't enjoy it you're not living but you "live" or survive because maybe you have the money to do it.

I don't know 'Pretty Wings' can you put a video of it or the dance you are doing?

I'm also learning dance in my free time, not professionaly...I wish! :)

I am only learning dance in my free time, I dont think I will ever dance professionally maybe I'll give some salsa lessons.
I do the occasional show, tho. In a few weeks I'll preform in a soccer stadium where the cuban national team will play some local team, really looking forward to that.

Yeah I agree Angelica most are programmed to reject the notion that one could live off of dancing. Or the arts for a living....That somehow it's not as legit as a doctor proffession engineer ect ect. Yet anybody heard of the book by Daniel Pink 'A whole new mind' that is showing how right brained people will rule the future of business. Check it out- Oprah gave it to the class of Harvard last year- that is the artistas of the world! The creative inventive new thinkers! So those who don't think it's possible will start to see it is and more and more will jump on board.

I'm here again!!!! Geez! i need to start to check in more often =) I love these convos! Salsa I am really interested in taking! I have not yet, Your comment make me want to get into even more. I've been doing Samba which i love! A song that I really really want to choreograph a piece to is to the new Maxwell song 'Pretty Wings' you guys know that one? Anybody choreograph in here? Also is anyone going to college for a dance major or minor? I am starting school again and am going to major in dance so want to knwo so info if anyone here is doing the same. alright thanks for checking in here guys!!

That's so true Valerie!! For example, I started to know and love the tango almost for 4 years ago..the music was the thing that captured me and I saw a show of tango in Buenos Aires and That really really impressed me! I liked the dance too but I always saw the tango as a musician, to play it..I never thought to dance it...is something like my head was predetermined to not dance it and then last year after a friend started to take class I asked to myself...Why cannot I dance it?...of course I can!

Maybe people are so focus on their world (being doctors, engineers, architects, etc) that they don't see to other side and realize that they can do something beautiful out of all that...like the dance :)

And that's also true Bengt...pleople are different! Is a nice atmosphere! A love it! :)

I guess most poeple dont know what they are missing, especially because there are so many great dances out there. I always loved to dance but it only became a real addiction once I start salsa. Now there are so many dances that I want to learn that I am already covered for the next 10 years.
What I really love is the totally different atmosphere. In 'normal' clubs you often have fights and a lot of people that are just unhappy and drink too much.
At partys where there is couple dancing, there is never any trouble, it is a lot more relaxed and people seem to enjoy themselves a lot more.
Also dancers are a great group of people. In the last two years I have made so many new friends, and we even dance to the barly audible sounds of a cellphone in the park.
I love dancing!

I want to respond to that comment about how few people have discovered the joy of dancing- i find that as wel- society has characterized others- to thik that they can or can't dance- let the spirit flow and you are right in rythum with your own soul- I encourage that whenever teaching. =) How are you guys doing??

Yes! It's really like lambada!..maybe Zouk is slower.
I watched some videos of bachatango and I noticed that the dance doesn't have too much of tango :S

I would love to learn another dances! Meanwhile I am tangueando! (tanguing) :p
