My name is Sherri and I am an artist, I mainly paint on canvas, and use oil paint, But I also use acrylic, and dry media from time to time. I've sculpted stone too.
I love painting Hawaiian themes, Landscapes, florals, still life, people, and pets. Every now and then I like to let go and do an abstract too. I have several websites now, one is the artistsalongallery where I've gathered a group of people to show off their work, network etc. Here is one of my favorite paintings

Hi Sherri, I haven't done any "real" art yet, because I always thought I can't draw or paint. Well, now's the time to bring out the artist in me and push myself a little by subscribing to this group. I've always had fun creating personalized cards, doing collages, experiment with avant garde gift wrappings - now I want to see if I can expand this further.

Hello Sabine, I'm so happy that you have joined! Do you know what area you want to explore with your creativity first?
I have some great youtube art videos and information on my art network http://www.theartistsalongallery.ning.com look in the groups area, thats where I index the different mediums and catagories.
Because youtube does not currently have an art catagory, ( the artists have been rallying to get an art catagory) I began collecting videos almost a year ago and placed them on the site . I put them there so other artists can find them easier. I've also collected a bunch of art books off amazon.com to make finding those easier too. feel free to join if you'd like it's a free site like this one is. If you dont see what you are looking for let me know and I'll make a catagory for you, and when I find the videos and information I'll put them there for you. I spend a lot of time on youtube, looking for the art videos to put in the libraries:) I just love this technology! It's like free art school! And I love to share what I find! By far what helped my art the most was reading and doing the lessons in the DRAWING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN BOOKS.

I'm not sure that that was clickable let me try this again click here to see the Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain book by Betty Edwards.
Everyone I have recommended it to has been thrilled at the results!
Good luck!

Hi Sherri, I remember that book! I got it from the library years ago, it was good and now you've given me an idea, I'm teaching a new art class, one were the pupils have little or no art skill, this book will be great for them.
I love your sunflower, its so happy.
Thankyou,
Alison

Sherri,

Your painting is beautiful, I love Sunflowers.

My Intro: I dabble in a lot of things. I am a handspinner dyer and weaver. I also knit and make jewelry. The past 2 years my main focus has been Mixed media art. I like to do drawing in pencil and colored pencil. I enjoy doing collage and working in an Art Journal using all sorts of mediums. I paint in acrylics and am beginning to explore painting faces. I am passionate about journaling , I try to encourage everyone to start an Art Journal. I like to make journals as gifts and have participated in collaborative books. Here is a drawing I did recently.

Hi Sherri! Your sunflower is great!
Sabine, it seems like to me if you're creating cards, doing collages and such, you are doing art (real art!)! :-)
Kate, you're creative in so many things! How exciting!
As for me, I work as an artist/designer for a company.
I have made some jewelry for fun and friends. I don't have any specific personal artistic goals just now. Mostly I want to continue to develop so I can do my best at work.

Thank you Pam:) I love sunflowers, you just cant feel down with sunflowers in your home:) This painting made me smile as I was painting it. I Kinda wish it hadnt sold so fast. I only had it a week after I finished it. I've tried recreating it so I could have one for myself, but this one was special.

So happy to see you here! Yes Photography was my first love! I love black and white photography and had my own dark room years ago. Now with Digital, unfortunately very few of my photos ever make it to print. I hope to change that soon. we are in the process of buying a home and I'll have my own creative space, maybe I'll be able to get into black and white developing again. I hope so!
Video is a new love for me ( a new tool I have discovered thanks to the 100 day challenge forcing me to learn video editing) I Love to experiment with digital manipulation in video form. it's a bit like animation:) I'll post one of those videos here
I'd LOVE to see some of your work! I'll go and check your web page
