The 100 Day Reality Challenge

Samuel Adams, Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Henry Beston, Immanuel Kant, Dr.Werner Hartinger,William C. Roberts, M.D ....and you?

"It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate,
tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds."
Samuel Adams

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress
can be judged by the way its animals are treated
Gandhi

"There will come a day when such men as myself will view the slaughter of innocent creatures as horrible a crime as the murder of his fellow man. Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty" - Albert Einstein

"For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings, they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the Earth" - Henry Beston

"He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals." - Immanuel Kant

"There are two categories of doctors and scientists supporting vivisection. Those that know nothing about it and those who profit from it" - Dr.Werner Hartinger

" When we kill the animals to eat them, they end up killing us because their flesh, which contains cholesterol and saturated fat, was never intended for human beings. " William C. Roberts, M.D., editor of The American Journal of Cardiology

Be human(e) because until we respect animal sentience* in global policy, there can be no universal moral progression

*(defined as the ability to experience terror/anxiety/pain)

oh, I was so hoping that someone would comment and put this in a context of LOA...

i'm not a bra-burning activist...a vegetarian who has best friends who cook and eat meat.....however this is an intrinsic issue with me....something i'd like to be more proactive and educational about....

would be great if someone could put this on a cocreating map as it were....perhaps you are involved and have an issue you work with or on behalf of....how does it work in with your daily life and how you live out the ccor seasons etc....

Well Gillian my dear...

I do agree with the many statements you have quoted!

I have seen with my own eyes, the way people have treated animals badly and are also quite bad people themselves. They are usually very weak, wimpish as they would not stand up to a man but will pick on and mistreat a defensive animal and anyone they feel they are able to treat like this.

Animals have souls too and if it was the animal who tured round and bit the 'man' then the animal would get put down. What does this say about our fellow man and society as a whole? We can mistreat a life deemed as weeker or not as important as us and if they have had enough, don't worry we (society) will kill them!
