The 100 Day Reality Challenge

A friend sent me this email from Joe Vitale (I'm sure some of you have heard of him). He talks about ways to protect yourself against negativity, something I bet we could all use. I found the list helpful and realize just how much crap I tend to read on the internet (celebrity sites and gossip). Last year, I had banned myself from these sites because I realized I was contributing to the gossip and negative comments. Lately, I've been commenting on sites that revolve around skinny and fat celebrities (particularly one of the sites i had banned myself from ). I think I need to stop doing this! Does anyone else notice how these types of things affect themselves negatively??

Here is the email:

"I want to give you five suggestions for
protecting yourself against negativity while
supporting your dreams."

1) Ignore water cooler gossip and other negative
messages.
2) Turn off any media that perpetuates
negativity.
3) Read positive material that supports healthy
messaging.
4) Listen to positive material that also enhances
the energy in and around you.
5) Get support from mastermind groups or a
personal coach.

Thank you for your response. You are so right!! I also don't own a tv (since moving in with my bf) but I will admit that I watch some stuff online. It really does make a difference when you pay attention to where you are putting your energy. I think I'm gonna delete all those celebrity bookmarks from my computer!! Thanks!!

I have (had) the same problem with watching the news! Once I decided to dramatically cut down my intake, after a week or two, I noticed I was a MUCH happier person. Occasionally I'll watch it in small doses. I try not to think about politics or the government much either. (I'm still working on that one.) When I visit my parents, the news is always on their TV. I tell them how my life improved after not watching it all the time. "Oh, that's good." They say. But they don't care. I rarely watch TV in general except for some key comedy shows.

I like that list you typed out.

Jason- I refuse to watch the news as well. Some people think it's ignorant of me not to be up to date with what is going on in the world. I tend to disagree. I find the negativity brings me down and I am way to sensitive to be constantly affected by the craziness of the world. Plus, we find out the main stories of the world anyway since everyone seems to be concentrating on them day in and day out.
and funny, but my Dad is the same way. Always watching the news, listening to talk radio etc. Drives me nuts but hey, we are all different. I don't think these stories affect everyone the same way, you know? Sometimes I think we are more sensitive than others :)

Indeed. Originally I thought,"I have enough problems. Why do I have to deal with this stuff to?" I still know what's going on because people tell me or I watch it occasionally. But it's not in my face constantly like it was. I would watch it for hours and they'd beat the stories like a dead horse too. Did lower my vibration. Now I try not to think about it hardly and focus on more positive things.

this is a good idea I kinda gossip about celebrities too (Miley Cyrus in particular) I should surround myself with positive energy and things to read. thanks for these tips! =)

Simple advice is always the best. I will be keeping these in mind and will make a copy of these 5 suggestions for my own personal reference. I already try to avoid Hollywood and the news as much as I can, sticking to niche news that interests me and my passions. I am going to do my best to only immersing myself in positive materials.

Yes, the list is very good. I do not have TV at home- all the stuff made me slightly depressed. All the news were about only negative things...........I do not want to listen to negative things all day long! radio is better I think. For me personally point 1 is the most difficult...........but I have also noticed that I tend to be more negative with certain people and totally positive with others, I guess it is all about our conditioned patterns of communication with them ( frequency, just like on the radio) and a matter of energy.......so, for example, I have noticed that I am more negative with my mum because we have always communicated this way, complaining....and because she is slightly negative......on the other hand, with my friends and colleagues I am more positive because we communicate in this way and because they are positive, looking for, fishing for good things in life.............That's it

Aha, I almost forgot...........I have this technique, I thinkI read about it some time ago, basically, when something 'bad' happens to me I try to explain to myself that:
1. It is just temporary
2. This situation is NOT BAD AT ALL because I only see a part of it, after some time I will see the whole picture and it will change my point of view and my opinion about it, my feelings and emotions about the whole situation
3. Then I do this changing of the point of view thing and I try to list 10 good aspects of the ''bad'' situation

Example: I do not earn a lot........this situation, 'problem' was sent by the Universe to push me to become a better person! It is a grat opportunity for me to develop many skills, meet new , helpful people, try more, become more dedicated, responsible, help others, learn something else on the way, perhaps move to another town, maybe country, maybe learn another language, change another culture, and the list is endless...........of course the situation is more serious when you are not single, like I am, and when you have to support your family.........But i think that the advice I gave is very helpful!

Sometimes I really feel bad and I use these, sometimes there is nothing better than to go to sleep and wake up another day with a smile on your face!
