INTERESTING WORD "CHARITY"

I have been pondering the word Charity. I love to give. But I dont like to call my giving Charity. It has a ring of pitty or lacking attached to it. I do give to those in need but I also give to those that are not. So where do we draw the line and call it Charity? When I give, it is with a happy heart. Maybe I will call it gifting. Yes, I like that. Sounds nice in every way. What do you think about the word?

Charity is actually a very old word that means love,so i think if you are giving from your "heart" it still means to give with love.So everytime you give you are loving and that is the highest you can give to someone and everyone needs and deserves love!

Carol, This is absolutely beautiful. This is a wonderful action to take when giving. It would maybe imply that one can attach LOVE to something that you give. I would thing that this would be the most ideal. When giving, dont just give to charity....give with the intent to attach love to what ever you are giving. Stop and think first before giving. Ok.. If the word sounds like pity to you at the moment, use a different word. There is an abundance of great words in the English language.:) and also there is a word appropriate for every thing. I feel just like you. I love to give and I say donate. I also say help. I have recently set up an auto-pilot to donate 5$ for donations to Dog care. I absolutely love dogs, I have two now and many more are coming. So it gives me tremendous amount of joy and happiness that this money is helping some doggies of this world. So when I think of this, I tell myself Im helping the doggies of this world. Anyway, just thought I would share.

Dear Jenna, Thank you for your insite. Yes I do believe there is another thoughtful way of expressing Charity. When giving, we can attach love to the blessing and believe it will multiply in its journey. This hope, is that animals on this planet will never have a threat of abuse and will live harmonious lives and will never again need your $5 again. While giving, should we attach a thought that the need will be fullfilled? This is something that I have been pondering lately. I have a passion for animals also. Blessings to you Jenna, 100 fold.

Well Jilly, I don't think it is necessary to attach a thought for the need to be fulfilled. The way I look at it is that perhaps it is more effective and fun to attach feelings to it. When I donate, I do it with love knowing that this will help all these dogs live better lives. Of course I want the abuse to stop permanently and that nowhere no animal is ever hurt in anyway.But even when that intention is manifested, when it is, hypothetically...I would still want these dogs to have a better life. I can't tell you how much I love dogs. I don't know why. May be because they are cute, may be because they give unconditional love. In the near future I want to get involved in physically helping some organisation in bringing better lives to dogs' lives. Right now I have 2 adorable dogs and I am going to have some more. People might laugh but I will soon have may be 10 in total. But I cant have all the dogs in the world. That's why I want to donate with the intent being that others like me who share this kind of love will help in making my vision a reality. I want the dogs to not only be healthy and strong but also happy and comfortable and make the most out of this great life that they have been given by enjoying as much that life has to offer. I'll give you an example, one of my dogs loves to have something cushy under her chin when she sleeps. I know because that's how she was as a baby. So when she is trying to sleep or sleeping I place a small pillow under her head ..and she loves it..and that makes me sooo happy.. :)

Oh Jenna, I just love you so much. You are so compassionate and I just wish there were zillions of Jenna's in the world.
I guess when I was saying "Thought" I might have been meaning "Feel". I am still questioning myself on this one. I then ask myself "Doesnt one's brain have to develope a thought to invoke afeeling.? Maybe someone with a science background can come to our rescue and answer that one. But I have no arguement with your analogy. Either way the end justifies the means for me.
Yes, you can tell me how much you love dogs and you did perfectly. I hung on to every word. I'm not laughing and if I were one of these wonderful creatures I would want to be adopted by you. I have a dog myself, she is my baby, she is even more so a daddy's girl. She is spoiled to the endth degree. She squeezes her tiny little butt between myself and her father everynight in our king size bed. And I know you won't laugh, she even try to steal the blankets. Blessings to you my new friend...JILLY
