Belle,

I've met my last two lovers online, one through an internet dating site and one in Second Life :) In both cases they live on other continents so we would never have met without the internet.

I love the freedom it gives me to meet people from anywhere in the world but really I think the answer is to focus on what you want in a relationship and then align yourself with that wanting. If from that place of alignment internet dating feels inspired, then go with it!

Always take the emotional, vibrational journey before the action journey :)

Belle, a lot of people are meeting via the internet. To test my comfortability with the personals website, I tried Yahoo Personals for one month. I must admit Yahoo Personals wasn't for me. I, also, tried a Social Networking site. I preferred this type of site because there is no pressure to "date". I met my Beloved through the Social Networking site a few years ago (2006) but we didn't become exclusive until 2007. And no it's not silly to not like to tell people that you "met him internet dating" - I hate the thought of saying it, too. I just ignore the question! LOL

Hi Elle and Isobel,
thanks for your responses! Elle, you made me laugh with - i just ignore the question! valid response. I just feel uncomfortable that i cant meet someone the 'normal' way. I always get 'how come a girl like you doesnt have a boyfriend?' - im sure its meant to be complimentary but its really not! Oh well. I give it to the universe. It will look after me.

Belle, I find that when you are happy, people will gravitate to you! It never fails - whenever I am in a happy relationship, I get hit on by sooooo many men! I guess it goes back to the law of attraction!

I met my husband on an internet chat room, we have been together for 8 years and I still wake up every day excited to be with him and grateful that I was fortunate to find someone who completes me.

I like to believe we would have met regardless but I am unsure if we would have - he is younger than I am and at the time we started chatting I was a professional in my late 20's, separated with two children whilst he was a uni student who still lived with his parents and enjoyed golf more than dating.

I have been happy since I first met him and that happiness just seems to continue manifesting more happiness....I am really excited about the rest of my life with him.

A lot of people meet on the internet nowadays but the stigma attached to it is no easier to deal with, we both feel apprehensive admitting how we met.

Best of luck :)

Hi Belle ~ I met my husband on an online dating site. Married for six years and happier than ever. I like to say I manifested him as he didn't appear until after I made my list of the qualities I wanted in a man. Then I was surfing around on udate.com and there he was. He had a cute boy garage band singer photo and whoa! He sure was cute. I put him on my fave list on the site, then im'ed him. We were married a little over a year later. I really believe that the universe brought us together. I consider him the love of my life and know that we will be married forever. Please try to be open-minded, but be careful too. It's so much better than meeting someone in a bar. Just be mindful that there's a whole contingent that simply uses the sites for sexual encounters. If you take your time, you'll find men who are your type and who are seeking the same things you are. Best to you! Hugs, Lori

Wow, im so happy for all the gals who have met their loves on the internet! I have met three guys off the internet and nothing happened. However Im remaining open. I go on it, and then get shy and stop - and in fact I was mid conversations (emailing) with a couple the last time i did this, which was wrong i know, but i get spooked and run away!
Thanks for sharing your stories with me. I love to hear about love no matter how it happens!
Best of luck!

I met my boyfriend online almost 10 years ago, before match.com was much of a site even! LOL! We broke up a couple of times, but have been solidly together for the last 6 years and are now living together with my sons. It can be a little weird telling people we met online, but most poeple are so familiar with it now, that it's not as big a deal as it feels. Since I met my ex-husband at work, and that was horrible, I haven't met anyone the "normal" way since I left him! LOL! I don't like going to bars, most of the guys I've worked with weren't available in various ways, and I wasn't interested in meeting someone through my spiritual path (dated guys through church and stuff when I was a teenager, that didn't work out well either). So where else can a single women meet a man??? The grocery store or book store isn't much different than the net.... so I figured it was better, cuz I could ask them a heck of a lot more intimate questions online, and really get to know them. I'm in a wonderful relationship, and I couldn't be happier! So it worked for me ;) and him!

I have a profile at a place. And I've met someone I like. Maybe you don't have to tell people where you met right away maybe after a while you won't care where you met. I have some new friends from there too. It is kinda scary at first but it's not that different from any other kinda dating I don't think. You just go for it girl! Besides it's easyer to know what the guy is looking for (sex versus relationship) when you meet online. You kinda get to screen the guy without having to meet him lots of times. Maybe you should try it a while you can always take the profile off if it's not for you. Anyway here are some of my thoughts :) Anniina xxx

I've had some great experiences with online. After all, everyone there is just like us.....just wanting someone to hook up with, someone nice, someone to love. I have yet to find Mr Perfect, but I've had some great dates and some have remained as friends. If you are nervous, try E Harmony for its anonymity. There are some nice free ones out there, too! Good luck, but most of all.......HAVE FUN!!!

Oh, and if I do end up dating and someone asks me where we met, I tell them "Starbucks" becuase usually that is where I meet guys for the first time!

Belle, I thought this discussion you started on Internet dating is great. I believe that a persons perception of "normal meeting methods" is as individual as they are. I'm sure there are 1000's of people out there who believe that meeting someone online is the only normal way. Just read all the wonderful success stories posted as responses! I did not meet my guy online however I met him in a very unconventional way, in a place neither of us were supposed to be that night, but it's almost been 2 years of bliss. So to heck with "normal" and do what feels right inside and your dream man will emerge.

I started internet dating 6yrs ago after being married for 8yrs, divorced for 5. I was skeptical at first but a dear friend of mine walked me through it. She found her husband online and was very positive about it. Once you make initial contact, you want to ask enought questions that will make you feel at ease giving your number out. Once you exchange numbers, make sure to pay attention to your intuition or gut feeling...you can sense if someone is nuts. Make sure to meet in a public place, never ever let him pick you up from your place until you feel totally comfortable.

I have met a lot of great people online. I don't have any horror stories. I have had a couple love connections that didn't work out for one reason or another and I'm still friends with both of them.

Internet dating is pretty much the way its done nowadays. Always take precaution...I always say...a stranger is a stranger is a stranger no matter where you meet them.

Best Wishes!
